incasi ■arming, BY SHARON B. SCHUSTER Maryland Correspondent TIMONIUM, MD The Cen tral Maryland Holstein Show at Timonium, Maryland, held July 17, was a good day for Maryland’s Maple Lawn Farm. The lagers of Howard County took first place in more than half of the classes and also showed the best three females in the junior class. Coldsprings Farm in Carroll County exhibited the best three females in the senior division. Judge Paul Knight of Airville, Pa., said many of the classes were difficult to for him to place with some of the state’s finest dairy cattle all in one show. It was Jenell Rinehart’s day to shine as her 3-year-old cow, Rine hart Elevation Ruth, was named 4-H grand champion. Rinehart, also of Carroll County, achieved champion status with Ruth in the senior 4-H division. Matt lager’s MD Maple Lawn Dixiecrat Queen helped him win the junior division 4-H champion ship. Hoffs big, black cow was described by Knight to be a fine, upstanding individual. She was bom in March, 1980 and sired by Coldsprings Ira. In the open class, grand champ ion of the show was Paul Harrison 111 of Howard County, with his 4-year-old cow, Hanover Hill Col umbus Echo. Junior champion in the open class was Rosecroft Count Mae, a senior yearling shown by Alvin E. Meyers and Brian Derr of Carroll County. Timothy Kaminkow of Harford County had a good showing in the intermediate heifer calf class with his fancy heifer, Ladys Manor Spruce C Lucy. Kaminkow also took first place in the junior fitting and showing contest, with Rebec ca Patrick of Howard County com ing in second.
