Veteran tanbark competitor Bridgette Boy er opened her final 4-H dairy show season with a flourish, capturing Supreme Champion and all top Holstein class honors at the York County 4-H Roundup, July 19 at the York Fairgrounds. Her senior-two-year-old took Supreme title over competing breed champions shown by Annie Rauhauser, Jersey, Kim Mc- Cleary, Brown Swiss, Kelly Mor ris, Guernsey, and Shannon Doll, Ayrshire. The Supreme win marked the second consecutive year Bridgette claimed the revolving trophy for the lop roundup honor. She is the daughter of Tom and June Boyer, York, and will begin studies at Delaware Valley College in the Fall. Showmanship competition fol lowed conformation classes, with Sharon Hammond making the selection for best handling in the showring. Taking his first top showmanship award was Junior division winner Todd Morris, Fawn Grove, with Chad Trimmer, East Berlin, runnerup. Kelly Jo Myers, Thomasville, topped the Intermediate show manship judging,-over runnerup Brad Walker, New Freedom. In the Senior category, Bridgette Boyer was named winner, over runnerup Jenelle Boyer. AYRSHIRE In the Ayrshire division. Shan non Doll took grand and junior champion honors with her senior calf Ray-Knoll Johny’s Valerie, sired by St. Cesaire Johnny’s. Winning the reserve grand and reserve junior was rookie 4-H’cr Jason Stambaugh, exhibiting his Furnace Creek Farms. At the halter of Furnace Creek Sexa tlon Trudy is showman John Doll. BROWN SWISS Kim McCleary dominated the Brown Swiss competition, taking grand champion and both senior and reserve champion rosettes with a pair of 5-year-olds. Brookdale Telstar Nina, by Norvic Telstar, was named senior and grand champion for the Stew artstown 4-H’er, besting herdmate Beaver Creak Danny Bertie, named the reserve senior champ ion. Although judge Mike Heath acknowledged the selection as a bit unusual, he selected Kelly Jo Myers’ intermediate calf as the Brown Swiss reserve grand champion. Earlier, the stylish calf took the breed’s junior champion award, over Kim McCleary’s senior calf entry, named the reserve junior champion. GUERNSEY Kelly Morris topped the Guern sey runoffs, getting the judge’s nod for senior and grand champ ion with her winning 3-year-old, Beas Bonus Tinkerbell, by Lyn dale Bonus S. Telestar. Reserve senior and grand champion Guernsey was Golden Lock Fayette Tex Gretal, exhi bited by Jenelle Boyer. Her two junior calves also took the junior and reserve junior awards and best bred-and-owned, then paired with their winning dams to earn the York exhibitor first and second daughter-dam honors. Also taking first place honors in the Guernsey classes were Todd Morris, senior calf, and Annie Rauhauser, intermediate yearling. JERSEY Jersey senior and grand champ ion and best bred-and-owned titles went to Lilac-Springs Royal Chas “mo«t determined look.” MC Tyrbach Valiant Trixie was named senior and grand champion of the York Holstein show. Reserve senior and grand went to Jasin Doll, exhibiting Gol den Yankees Sweetness, a senior two-year-old. Annie Rauhauser also claimed the junior champion award with her intermediate calf. Reserve junior champion honors went to the winning junior calf exhibited by William Jenkins. HbLSTEIN Sunny bend Milky way Har mony earned the Supreme award after taking championship of the Holstein breed show, then snag ging another rosette in the Hols tein owner-breedei class. She is sired by Harmony-Comers Duke. Paired at the top of the Holstein show as reserve senior and grand was Bridgette’s winning dry cow entry, Sunnybend Sexy Icicle. Entiles from the 1.8-year-old’s successful show string also earned her first and second places in the dam-daughter class. Junior champion honors went to Bridgette’s summer yearling win ner, Sunnybend Necterine Star buck, over her reserve junior champion, a junior yearling.
