820-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 1,1989 Pennsylvan STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) Last month FFA members from around Pennsylvania gathered at Penn State to take part in the 1989 FFA Activities Week. One of the event’s highlights was the election of the new state offic ers for 1989-1900. Becky Sonnen of Richland will end her reign as the state dairy princess just as she takes over the responsibilities of state FFA offic er. One of her alternate state dairy princesses, Tammy Balthaser of Bemville, will be her stale FFA vice president Christine David son, the Cumberland County Dairy Princess, was selected to handle the state FFA secretarial duties. The treasurer postilion went to Clair Wriglesworth of Grampian, while the new state FRA reporter is Rebecca Stumpf of Homer City, a member of the United FFA chap ter. Bonnie Pearce of Renfrew and Kirk Sattazahn of Womelsdorf were tapped to be the state sentinel and chaplain, respectively. Rounding out the new slate of officers are John Hess of Man heim, eastern region state vice president; Daniel Love, south cen tral region state vice president; Dan Vargason. north central reg ion state vice president; and Ker mit Stahl, western region state vice president Activities Week also consisted of three days of competition for state titles. The top three individu als or teams in each contest will go on to represent the state at the national FFA convention, which is held in December in Kansas City, Mo. The award, sponsored nationwide by DeKalb-Pfizer Genetics, is pre sented to the outstanding senior agriculture student demonstrating superior scholarship, leadership and supervised agricultural prog ram. Dien na (DeeDce) will be a senior at Edinboro University this fall, majoring in computer science. While there she has been active in Phi ETA Sigma Honors Fraterni ty, treasurer of the Computer club, and a member of the Crecents’ of Lambda Chi Alpha. She also finds time to enjoy running, skiing, ten nis and other sports. She is the oldest daughter of David and Florence Wolfe, and resides at 516 Hall Avenue, St Marys, with tier parents and seven brothers and sistcrs.-The Wolfes have been engaged in the dairy business for 13 yaers, milking Ayrshires on the family farm. Green Acres. The purpose of the state wide Dairy Princess Program is to work through and with local committees to promote the sale of milk and dairy products throughout Pennsylvania. Each local winner vyill have the opportunity of serving the dairy industry by making many appear ances within her area throughout the year of her reign. She will also attend the Dairy Princess Training Seminar in July where she will receive extensive training for her year as Dairy Princess, and instructions for the state pageant in Harrisburg in September.
