Princess And U’l Miss Chosen
At Lebanon County
BY LOU ANN GOOD
ANNVILLE (Lebanon Co.)
Two seventeen-year-old friends
will promote dairy products
through the Lebanon County Dairy
Princess program. Crowned dairy
princess was Kynel Bomgardner at
the Saturday night pageant held at
the Annville-Cleona High School.
Brenda Dice was named alternate.
Both are graduates of Northern
Lebanon High School and are now
working fulltime on their family
farms. Both are enthusiastically
committed to making dairy farm
ing their career and both have
impressive records in 4-H and FFA
endeavors.
In pageant competition on
Saturday night, Kynel, riding a
pedal tractor and merrily singing
“bid MacDonald Has A Farm.”
humorously dramatized serving
dairy products to her six lazy
brothers.
Kynel, the daughter of John and
Margaret Bomgardner, in reality
has six brothers who help milk 63
head of registered Holsteins at the
family farm in Ono.
The newly crowned dairy prin
cess admitted that several years
ago she had gone through a stage
of resenting farm chores that pre
vented her from participating in
school activities. She recalled,
“My dad explained that life is full
of choices and we can’t do every
thing.” After contemplating on the
pros and cons of fanjn life, Kynel
was convinced that farming should
be a priority in her life. Today, she
hopes to always remain on the
farm and is actively pursuing
increasing her own 11-head herd.
Despite daily milking chores,
Kynel graduated magna cum laude
and participated in the following
school activities: track team, band,
junior and senior class plays, pit
orchestra, and student govern
ment. She was designated student
of the month and is listed in Who’s
Who Among American High
School students.
Her church involvement
includes serving as gie pianist and
as the coordinator for the youth
missionary enisle.
