BOSWELL (Somerset Co.)
Somerset County crowned their
new dairy princess on June 17, at
the Somerset Area Senior High
School. Tracey Blair, daughter of
Greg and Bonnie Blair of Boswell,
was chosen as the 1989 Somerset
County Dairy Princess.
Tracey is a senior at Somerset
Area High School where she is
involved in the English Club, soft
ball team and chorus. She is a
member of the Super Milkers 4-H
Club.
Dressed as an. investigative
reporter, Tracey interviewed a
child, a teenager, a father, and a
grandmother and asked each one
how important dairy products
were in their lives.
Other contestants for the even
ing were Tonya Lohr, daughter of
Larry and Gloria Lohr; and Sarah
Schwarm, daughter of Carl and
Connie Schwarm. Both girls will
serve as alternate dairy princesses.
Each girl received a $5O sav
ings bond and jewelry. For win-

Somerset County Dairy Princess Crowned
ning, Tracey received a bouquet of
red roses, a $2OO gift certificate
from Farm Credit and a $2OO cash
award horn the Dairy Promotion
Committee. Each alternate
received a $5O cash award.
A little princess pageant was
also held. Six young ladies, ages
5-7, promenaded across the stage
and were interviewed about life on
their farm. Mindy Countryman,
daughter of David and Linda
Countryman was chosen as the
1989 Somerset County Little
Princess.
Judges for the pageant were
Bailey Herring, dairy farmer from
Fayette County, Lynn Taylor, for
mer dairy princess and Special
Events Planner for Crown Ameri
ca, and Bill Brown, WJAC-local
television personality. Master of
Ceremonies for the evening was
Bob Brown, Somerset County
Extension Agent.
After the coronation an ice
cream social was held in the
school cafeteria.
