Pennsylvania HARRISBURG Stocks of potatoes stored in the ?tate on May 1 totaled 200,000-hundredweight (cwt), 47 percent less than a year ago, according to the Pcnnsylvani a Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 50,000 cwt., or 25 percent, was stored in processors’ facilities. Stocks are defined as the quan tity, sold or unsold, remaining in storage for all purposes and uses, including shrinkage and waste and other losses that occur after the date of each report. Shrinkage, loss and home use account for the remaining 10 percent. In the IS states classified as fall storage states, storage of fall pota toes on May 1 totaled 54.4 million cwt, down 22 percent from last year and 9 percent under two years ago. Stocks on May 1 accounted for 18 percent of fall production this year, compared with 21 per cent last year. Disappearance from harvest to May 1 in those IS states totaled 245 million cwt, 7 percent below last year and 1 percent below two years ago.
