Corn futures prices recovered
today andxlosed from 1 to 1-3/4
cents higher on buying linked to
short covering in response to over
sold conditions. Further support
was attributed to steady basis
levels along with ideas that the
Soviet Union would soon return to
the market place. Mexico is sche
duled to tender tonight for
120,000 metric tonnes. Prices
were held in check by continued
forecasts for increased rainfall
during the next week with Decem
ber settling today at $2.61-1/4, up
1 cent’Generic certificate bids
firmed this morning by 1/2%.
