Correspondent UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre) Sable-Hill Moch Jewel, a five year-old cow of Ivanhoe .Breed ing, was the top-selling animal at the Pennsylvania Showcase Sale held recently at University Park. This Excellent, 93 pt. was the Reserve All-Pennsylvania Four- Year-Old in 1988 and an All- Pennsylvania Three-Year-Old in 1987. She was also first place and best udder in the four-year-old class and jpand champion at the Pen nsylvania State Show in 1988. Consigned by Queens-Manor Holsteins and Sable Hill Holsteins of Jamestown, she had a third-year production of 21.289 M, 3.7 F. This cow’s sire is Knob-View Jewelmaker, an Excellent, 91 pt who is sired by Provin Mtn Ivan hoe Jewel, a Gold Medal Proven Sire. The dam is C Mac-Lane Moch Saphire, a Very Good 87 pt., who placed first in the three year-old class at the 1984 Pen nsylvania Black and White Show; her fourth-year production was 18.590 M, 3.5 F. Sable-Hill Moch Jewel was bred in September to Bridon Astro Jet-ET. She sold to Harold Carleton of West Newber ry, Vermont for $14,000. The second-high selling cow went to Michael Hoover of Tyr one for $B,lOO. Co-Hill Farm Enchantment Cindy, a four-year old consignment of Donald Eaton of Clarksburg, is a Very Good, 88 pt. daughter of Gor-Vel Enchant ment, a Very Good 8S pt Gold Medal Proven Sire. Her dam is Bar-Rel Co-Hill Bell Chimes, a Very Good. 86 pt whose second year production was 21.270 M, 3.9 F. The maternal grandsire is Carlin-M Ivanhoe Bell, an Excel lent 93 pt. Gold Medal Proven Sire. Going for $7,750 was Masai Prima Mars Bell, a 1984 cow with a Very Good, 88 pt. and a second year production of 30.200 M, 3.2 F. Consigned by Raymond Anthony and Beer Farms, Inc., of Meadvil le, this daughter of Marshfield Elevation Tony was purchased by Amelia Curty. The dam is Leslek Dandy Bell Donna, a Good Plus, 80 pt. with a second-year produc tion record of 27.620 M, 3.0 F. The grandsire of the maternal side is Carlin-M Ivanhoe Bell, and the maternal granddam is Leslek Dabble Elv Joe Dandy, whose fourth-year production was 18.410 M, 3.5 F. Going to Helmont Farms of Berlin for a final bid of $5,100 was Sable-Hill Warden Ruby, a Very Good, 86 pt. whose second year production was 20.020 M, 3.1 F. Her dam is Walebe Bell Jessica-ET, a Very Good, 86 pt whose Life-to-Date production is 102.010 M. The grandsire on the maternal side is Carlin-M Ivanhoe Bell, and the granddam is Hertzler Elevation Jessie whose lifetime production is 131.550 M, 3.7 F. A Sweet Haven Tradition Daughter, Merri-Burke Tradition Myrtle-OC, brought $3,400. This 1983 cow was bred in May to Tri- Town Steady. This consignment of Emanuel Smucker of Gap is a Very Good, 88 pt. with a fourth year production of 20.599 M, 3.5 F. Her dam is Dumbelle Double Magic, a Very Good, 85 pt. whose lifetime production record is 120.930 M, 3.9 F. Eighty-eight consignors offered a total of 82 animals whose prices averaged $2,203. The sale staff included Sherman Allen, William Kent, Horace Backus, Mike Weimer, William Nichol, Ray Leßlanc; and Jeff Harding of the Pennsylvania Holstein Associa tion.
