Keyser has been appointed assistant professor of agricultural and extension educa tion in Penn State’s College of Agriculture. Her responsibilities will include developing materials and learning activities in dairy, livestock, horse and small animal programs for 4-H youth. She will also research the impact of the 4-H animal sci ences curriculum on youth. “I will start by focusing on updating the existing 4-H project materials,” says Keyser. “We need to concentrate on make 4-H a learning experience but also mak ing sure that kids have fun.” Prior to her appointment, Keys er worked as an agent for Penn State Cooperative Extension in York County, developing adult dairy and 4-H dairy and horse edu cational programs. She also has been an assistant professor of agri culture at Missouri Western State College where she taught courses in introductory animal science, animal nutrition and breeding, beef, sheep and horse production and animal diseases. In addition, she has taught animal nutrition courses as a graduate instructor at Purdue University. Keyser received her B.S. in ani mal science and her M.S. in ani mal science with an emphasis in ruminant nutrition from the Virgi nia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She earned her Ph.D. in animal sciences with an empha sis in ruminant nutrition from Purdue University. Her disserta tion was “Characterization of Limestones and Their Effects Upon In Vitro and In Vivo Avid Neutralization and Utilization of Feedstuffs by Cattle.” Keyser is a member of the American Dairy Science Associa tion, the American Society of Ani mal Science and the Pennsylvania Association of Extension 4-H Agents. She also belongs to Gam ma Sigma Delta and Alpha Zeta, honorary agricultural societies. Sigma Xi, a scientific research honorary society, and the National Association of Colleges and Tochers of Agriculture. Dr. Robin B.
