Goat Antics Disrupt Race
Handsome, ugly, skinny, leggy,
puggy and beautiful—a hilarious
assortment of goats entertained the
audience during the Family Fun
Day at the Farm Show on Sunday.'
The goats and their masters
raced around the arena...well, most
goats did. Some got a bit stubborn
and refused to budge despite
immense cajoling in the form of
tugging, yanking and pushing.

schoolers whose goats proved
uncooperative.
It seemed the more stubborn the
goat, the more the audience
cheered.

start, then decided near the finish

The grand champion capon sold
for $2O per pound at the Franklin
County 4-H Capon Roundup. The
9.6-pound bird exhibited by Jared
Spidel of St Thomas, was pur-
line that it was a nice day for a
stroll.
The goats’ masters generally led
them with a halter, but a few impa
tient goats lambasted past then
masters in an effort to show then
winning streak.
Perhaps the four-legged crea
tures did not set any racing
records, but they certainly proved
there’s more than one way to get
their master’s goat

10.4-pound bird was purchased by
Five Points Diner for $l5 per
pound.
The 4-H Capon Roundup spon
sored by the Kiwanis Club of
Chambersburg, sold 36 birds aver
aging 9.87 pounds for a total of
$1,709.41 or an average of $47.48
per bird.
The 4-H’ers had been raising
the capons since July for the
Thanksgiving and Christmas
market.
