HARfeISBURG—The junior
beef breeding show bought out
the best beef heifers owned by 4-H
and FFA members.
In the Angus division, Jennifer
Calderazzo of York had the grand
champion with her junior yearling.
Kelly Bachman of Annville had
the reserve champion with the ani
mal Judge Scott Schaake of Uni
versity of Kentucky judged to be
the second- place junior yearling.
Travis Sherman of Abbotstown,
an Adams County youth, had the
champion Charolais, the first place
spring yearling. The reserve
champion was the second-place
spring yearling shown by Tammy
Gelsingcr of Wemersville in Berks
County.
The top Limousin was exhibited
by Tami Rose of Cochranton in
Crawford County with a spring
yearling. Reserve champion
Limousin was the second-place
spring yearling owned by Jessica
Stover of Titusville in Venango
County.
Tawnya Wolfhopeof Schells
burg in Bedford County, cele
brated her last day as the Pennsyl
vania Polled Hereford Queen by
taking home the championship
Polled Hereford title. Her champ
ion is a summer yearling. The
reserve champion Polled Hereford!
was the spring calf shown by Kyle
Rookcr of Union town in Fayette
County.
Keith Carlisle of Claysville in
Washington County had the
champion Simmental with his
spring calf. The reserve champion
Simmental was shown by Jamie
Cowell of Waynesburg in Greene
County.

The Ira Coble Award for outstanding service to the 4-H
program was presented to Thomas McCullough, Mercer
County, (left), during the junior beef show. McCullough has
worked with 4-H and livestock organizations for more than
20 years. Among his other accomplishments, he developed
the Mercer 4-H Park and his team won the 1974 livestock
judging contest. He was an original director of the Cattle
men’s Club. Dave Coble made the presentation.
