ACRES CATTLE UPDATE:
Live cattle futures closed out the
day lower while feeders ended
mostly higher. Pressure in the live
cattle was linked to ideas the pit
had become over bought along
with expectations for increased
slaughter after the upcoming holi
day weekend. Further selling was
tied to the jitters over the EEC
bank on hormone-treated meat
which becomes effective Mid
night Sunday. A late short
covering rally helped feeders
close mostly higher after being
confined to a narrow range all ses
sion. January feeders ended the
day 13 points higher at $84.30
while February live cattle lost 50
points at $73.97.
