ting new recent lows on technical
selling and sluggish exports.
USDA announced after the close
the issuance of a CCC Com Cata
log containing 170 million
bushels. First date for availability
will be December 8 for ware
housemen and third parties. Com
mercial short-covering provided
most of the buying interest on the
day.

respectable rally without demand
news. Meal futures closed slightly
higher in the deferreds and nearby
December unchanged.
ACRES WHEAT UPDATE:
Wheat futures closed lower today
on leary pro selling. Selling was
linked to failure of expected
export offers to the USSR and
China. Other export activity is
also slack. The market is also con
sidered technically weak which
added pressure. New-crop losses
were not as steep with the new
crop contracts holding their won
over concerns about moisture.

ACRES CATTLE UPDATE:
Live cattle futures closed mixed
today in light trading. Prices were
pressured early on ideas yester
day’s gains were overdone. Posi
tioning prior to Friday’s USDA
Cattle-on-Feed Report was evi
dent along with profit taking. The
report is expected to show light
place- ments and moderate mark
etings in the 7 major producing
states during October. Steady to
slightly higher cash prices today
provided support Feeder cattle
futures also closed mixed with the
March contract 2 points higher
and other contracts 5 to 23 points
lower reflecting fluctuations in
live cattle futures. Support
stemmed from a higher trending
