Prices were pressured early on ideas yester day’s gains were overdone. Posi tioning prior to Friday’s USDA Cattle-on-Feed Report was evi dent along with profit taking. The report is expected to show light place- ments and moderate mark etings in the 7 major producing states during October. Steady to slightly higher cash prices today provided support Feeder cattle futures also closed mixed with the March contract 2 points higher and other contracts 5 to 23 points lower reflecting fluctuations in live cattle futures.
