(Continued from Pago A2O) Glenn Shirk, Lancaster Coun ty's Dairy Extension Agent praised the winners of the best owner-bred females awards spon sored by Lancaster Farming. “One of the greatest accom plishments of showing cattle is to do well with an animal you have bred. Breeding an outstanding ani mal requires a vision of what you want to attain and then selecting the right sire to help you reach that dream,” said Shirk. Award recipients were: Angela Spickler, Ayrshire; John Henisee, Elizabethtown, Guernsey; Matth ew Welk, Peach Bottom, Holstein; and Helen Arrowsmith, Peach Bottom, Jersey. Angela Spickler, President of the Ayrshire, Jersey, Brown Swiss 4-H Club announced the recipients of the champion showman awards. The first-year division winner was Mark Grunow of Willow Street Matthew Welk of Peach Bottom was the recipient of the junior divi sion trophy and in the senior divi sion Thomas Barley of Conestoga was the champion. Reserve champion showman were: Travis Howes of Elizabeth town, first-year division; Fran Kennel of Mount Joy, junior divi sion, enior division winner, Matth ew Wanner of Narvon. Farmers Ag Credit, New Direction Hols teins and Em-Tran, Inc. sponsored the awards. Honored also were those 4-H’ers with exemplary dairy record books. Recipients were scored on the care given to their animals at home, their interest in their 4-H project, showmanship, and the completeness of their record book. Following are the results: 1.
