PIG TRIVIA
Did you know that...
Columbus brought some pigs
along on his trip to America and
pigs came along with the pilgrims
on the Mayflower, too.
Hogs provide materials for many
other products that we use every
day. Things like glue, crayons,
makeup, plastics, brushes, and
floor waxes all come inpart from
pigs.
Hot dogs used to be called “red
hols.” They were sold by street
vendors and each of the sausages
came with a pair of white cotton
gloves to keep your fingers cool.
The Chinese name each year for
twelve different animals. The Year
of the Rat is first on the list; the
Year of the Pig is last.
People living in Vienna, Austria,
say that if you touch a pig on New
Year’s Eve, good luck will follow.
Martha Brubaker writes...
I have a pet kitten her name. Her
name is Flower. We are playing
baseball. In school we are having
fun.
Tonight my brother Stephen, 8,
and I did the chores because my
dad and my uncle and my brother
were filling silo. They are just
about finished. My sister Ellen, 13,
milked the cows. We have two
cows with two baby calves. We
have two horses and the one is
named Sonny; the other is Fairy.
I have to do my homework.
