U American Breed Sales
HARRISBURG
Tke All-American
Brown Swiss Sale was
held Monday evening in
the small arena of the
Farm Show Complex.
Twenty-nine registered
Brown Swiss cattle
averaged $1,122 per
head to buyers from five
different states.
The high selling ani
mal was a three-year
old cow consigned by
Rita Kennedy of Butler.
Robert and Joyce Wag
ner of Quarry ville, Lan
caster County, paid
$3,000 for “VG-89”.
The second highest
price of $2,450 was paid
by Donald and Deborah
Moore of Maryland for
a two-year-old con
signed by Warren
Schroer of New Knox
ville, Ohio.
The top selling bred
heifer and third overall
was “Shady Creek J.D.
Starbirght,” the All-
American nominee for
1987. King and Queen
Farm of Denver, Lan
caster County, paid
$l,BOO to Michael
Kunkle of Jonestown,
Lebanon County.
Dennis Daubert of
Pine Grove, who served
as co-chairman for the
sale, commented, “It
was a good sale with
very good quality
animals.”
Milking Shorthorn
An average of $775
was realized at the Milk
ing Shorthorn Sale on
Monday, held in con
junction with the Pen
nsylvania All-American
Dairy Show.
The top animal was
purchased by well
known Pennsylvania
Holstein breeder John
Foster Jr. of Huntingdon
County for $2,050.
“Three Springs B.R.
Jewel,” a 3-year-old,
was consigned by James
Young of Newville.
The second highest
bid of the day came
from David Whiting of
Edenburg. He spent
$1,435 for “RACE KA
Samurai,” a 3-year-old
consigned by Greg
Kline of Rocky Ridge,
Maryland.
Selling at $875 for the
third highest price of “U
of Minn Pacesetter
Bea,” consigned by Sam
Yoder of Shoemakers
ville. An aged cow, she
went to John Kuszlyk’s
farm near Batavia, New
York.

at the Pennsylvania All-
American Dairy Show
on Tuesday afternoon,
was a crowd pleaser.
Organizers said it was a
good event, with prices
being strong throughout
most of the auction.
