West Virginia project will be on an unnamed tributary of Evitts Run, through a residential area of Ran son in Jefferson County. The tri butary empties into Evitts Run as it flows through the neighboring town of Charles Town. Widening and deepening the channel, installing new conduits where needed and building a drop inlet at the mouth will cost about $300,000. The tributary flows only inter mittently, so the enlarged channel will be a grass waterway, dry most of the time. Flooding costs an average of $59,700 per year. A 100-year storm would cause $450,000 in damages to 59 residences and three other properties. The local sponsors are the East ern Panhandle Soil Conservation District, the town of Ranson and the Jefferson County Commission. SCS will complete the plan next year. Funding of construction will need the approval of the chief of the agency.
