Franklin County’s Finest Take Titles In Dairy Show

CHAMBERSBURG (Franklin)
For the second year in a row,
JCY Sexation Apex earned the
grand champion banner at the
Franklin County Holstein Show
for JCY Farms of Greencastle.
Apex was also named best uddered
cow and best bred and owned of
the show, held August 25 at the
Franklin County Fair.
A six-year-old, Apex was fresh
in June and has a record of 27,140
pounds of milk and 1047 pounds of
fat with a 3.8 percent test. The
Ocean View Sexation daughter
placed second in the dry cow class
at the 1988 State Spring Show. In
1987, she took first place in the
five-year-old class at the South
central Championship Show. She
is classified 91 points. JCY Farms
is owned and operated by Jaye C.
Young and J. Chalmers Young, Jr.
Reserve senior and grand
champion honors went to Antrim-
Spring Farms of Chambersburg for
Antrim-Spring Milestone Sylvia, a
five-year-old. A Poverty Hollow
Milestone daughter, she is classi
fied VG-88. Last year, as a four
year-old, she topped her class at
the fair. As a three-year-old, she
made 17,0% pounds of milk and
553 pounds of fat. Antrim-Spring
Farm is owned and operated by
Harold F. Crider and sons Roger
and Rodney Crider. The Criders
were also named premier breeders
and premier exhibitors.

ion was Meadow-Vu Glamorous

A summer yearling owned by
Toby L. Horsh of St. Thomas was
named junior champion of both the
youth and open shows, and best
bred and owned of the youth show.
Ro-Meyer Heavenly Happy Mem
had placed fourth in her class and
second in 4-H at the Southcentral
Championship show earlier this
month. Her dam is Ro-Meyer
Heavenly Hopeful, an 81-point
cow with a record of 17,000
pounds of milk. The judge chose
Merit as junior champion over her
competitors for her spring of rib,
size and scale.
Reserve junior champion of the
open show was Windy Knoll View
Valiant Paola, an S-W-D Valiant
daughter owned by James and
Nina Burdette of Mercersburg.
Youth reserve junior champion
was Meadow-Vu Dynamic Star, a
Marthaven Dynamic daughter
owned by Thomas Eckstine.
Judge for the event was Oren
Bender, a Holstein breeder, sales
manager and pedigree reader from
Accident, MD.
There were 150 entries
