selection for this year’s winner.
Chrissy had the sharpness and
dairyness that we aU would like to
see in our young cows, said Keene.
She also had a tremendous rear

Maryland Correspondent
TIMONIUM, MD—The heifer
division of the Maryland State
Holstein Show was dominated by
the OCS Dairy from Jefferson.
The Smith family placed first in
three of the seven classes and sec
ond in another. Their Senior Year
ling Heifer, Bayville Starbuck
Start-et took home the junior
champion trophy. Judge Richard
Keene placed her on top for her
sharpness and clean lines. The
Junior Yearling owned by Steve
and Chris Wood, Penn Gate Mel
rose Tinker, was the reserve junior
champion.
My Ladys Manor Farm from
Monkton took the honors from
then on. Their seven-year-old
Paclamar Bootmaker daughter
won the grand champion trophy.
Ladys Manor Charmster Star-et
placed at the top of the Long Time
Production class as well. She
received best Maryland bred and
owned trophy for her soundness
and her exceptionally good set of
legs. My Ladys Manor Farm went
away with the Produce of Dam,
Senior Best Three Females and the
Exhibitors Herd of 5 Females tro
phies. The reserve grand champion
went to the four-year-old cow
owned by O. Clayton Smith and
Marion Andrew, Brookstead
Jessie.
The premier breeder banner
went to Marlin and Kathy Hoff
from New Windsor. The OSC
Dairy took home the premier exhi
bitor banner. O. Clayton and Shirly
Smith live in Jefferson.
The battle for the supreme
champion between the grand
champion winners in all six breeds
of cattle came down to just three
close placings. The Brown Swiss
and Jersey just didn’t quite have
the power and strength that put the
Holstein cow on top, said Keene.
Ladys Manor Charmster Star-et
owned by Ros, Robert and Harold
Smith of My Ladys Manor Farm
took home a replica of the Richard
N. Wills Memorial Trophy.
A total of 225 animals were
judged at this year’s fair.
