Hftfifng Sal Di FRANKLIN (Venango) A simmental steer, selected for grand championship honors at the Ven ango County Fair, brought distinc tion to its young 4-H owner, Joshu a Smith, and it also set a fair record at the livestock sale held in Philips Arena. With lively bidding the 1,314-pound steer commanded $5 a pound from Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, for a grand total of $6,570. The previous fair record for a steer was $3.30, showing a handsome $1.70 increase in the top price. The reserve grand champion steer was a simmental/angus cross weighing 1,210 pounds, owned by Jeff Etzel. Farrell Golden Dawn made the top bid of $2.40 a pound. George McQuiston owned the right, sold to Farrell Golden Dawn for $3.01 per pound.
