GETTYSBURG (Adams)
The fifth Annual Adams County
4-H/FFA Market Swine and Sheep
Show and Sale was held at the
South Mountain Fairgrounds. It
was a successful conclusion for 3S
members of both organizations
who have worked hard this spring
and summer getting their animals
ready for show.
The Grand Champion Lamb
was shown by Mandy Hilbert, Lit
tlestown. The 125 pound lamb was
bought by Gettysburg National
Bank for $2.50 a pound, a sale
record. A trophy was presented in
honor of the 4-H/FFA Sheep Prog
ram by an anonymous donor. Man
dy was also Reserve Champion Jr.

Buying Station. The 250-pound hog was purchased for a
record $3.41 per pound. Ron Harrison, right, presented the

ners. The 250 pound animal was
bought by Sellers Buying Station
for $3.41 a pound, a sale record. A
trophy was presented by Harrison
Farms Pork Roll, Littlestown, and
a rotating trophy by Wayne Feed,
Dillsburg.
The Reserve Grand Champion
Lamb was shown by Earl Wilkin
son, Gettysburg. The 115 pound
lamb was bought by Greencastle
Livestock Auction for $1.41 a
pound. A trophy was presented by
Belmont Ridge Farm.
The Reserve Grand Champion
Hog was shown by Chad Funt,

Adams County 4-H/FFA grand champion lamb to the buyer, Fay McCleaf, who repre
sented Gettysburg National Bank. The 125-pound lamb was purchased for a record
$2.50 per pound.
Arendtsville. The 235 pound ani
mal was bought by Hatfield Pack
ing Co. for $l.BO a pound. A tro
phy was presented by Melvin J.
Sheffer.
Pricilla Roberts, Biglerville,
was selected Sr. Champion Swine
Fitter/Showman with a trophy pre
sented by Noland Mfg., Distribu
tor, Dave Reinecker. Her hogs
were bought by: Mrs. Betty
Roberts, Sandoes Wholesale Fruit,
and Hatfield Packing Co.

was selected Intermediate Champ
ion Swine Fitter/Showman with a
trophy presented by Dr. George
Gorse, VMD. Her hogs were
bought by: MET Agway, Hatfield
Packing Co., and Charles Nell
Meats- Littlestown.
Dale Roberts, Biglerville had
his lambs bought by Biglerville
Agway and Mrs. Betty Roberts.
Jovita Keller, East Berlin, was
selected Jr. Champion Swine
Fitter/Showman with a trophy pre
sented by Arndt Trailer Mfg., Inc.

selected Intermediate Sheep Fitter
Showman with a trophy presented
by Dr. Pat Whittaker, VMD. Her
lambs were bought by: Millar

Lampshade.
Emily Miller, New Oxford, was
selected Jr. Champion Filter/
Showman with a trophy presented
by Lady & Taylor Body Shop. Her
lambs were bought by CCNB

Tim Biggins, Gettysburg, was
Reserve Champion Sr. Swine
Fitter/Showman. His hogs were
bought by: Hatfield Packing Co.,
and Empress Travel.
