Correspondent SHIPPENSBURG The Cumberland Valley Jersey Breed- - ers Sale, held Saturday, July 2nd, at the Shippensburg Fairground, again underscored the strong demand for Jerseys in the area. The sale averaged $1193.93 on 33 head of cows and springing heifers and $571.66 on 9 calves, for a curnmu lative average of 1090.25 on the 42 lots sold. Topping the sale at $2225.00 was the consignment of John Bishop 6th, Columbus, NJ, Ogston Top Brass Leanore. Fresh in May with her second calf and milking over 60 pounds daily, this fancy young A-Nine Top Brass daughter looked every point of her VG score plus a few more. Her credits also included a record at 2-00 286 days of 13,416 pounds of milk and 612 pounds of butterfat. Her dam was scored VG 88% with records over 15,000 pounds of milk and 661 pounds of butterfat. The next dam back was W.F. Sur ville Mimosa EX 90% who sold in the 1978 All-American Jersey Sale.
