-Four of the 21 delegates ffsm
Pennsylvania to the 73rd annual
convention of the Holstein-
Friesian Assn, of America are
from Lancaster County.
They are: Earl L. Groff, Stras
burg; Clarence E. Lyons, Lancas
ter; Harvey Rettew, Manheim; and
Paul G. Longenecker, Strasburg.
An all-time high of 182 dele
gates will represent the member
ship of the association in Boston.
This compares to last year’s high
of 179. Total attendance-
delegates, members and guests-is
expected to exceed 2,000.
-There’s not going to be a Penn
sylvania Poultry Queen this year.
Instead the fortunate young lady is
going to be known as “Miss Penn
sylvania Poultry Industry.”
The State Poultry Federation
changed the contest this year and
dropped the titles of ‘Turkey
Queen” and “Poultry Queen” to
make the contest more representa
tive of the poultry industry. .
-The past week saw the first full
week of farming weather uninter
rupted by rain during the 1958 crop
season.
Lancaster County farmers,
caught short in their field work by
the extended cool wet spring,
worked both day and night to get
com ground ready and to get the
crop into the ground.

These are in addition to the more
