Correspondent BEDFORD Four-H Club and FFA members from across Penn sylvania and Maryland are being invited to compete in the Beef Pre view and Jackpot Show at the fair grounds here June 25. Top honors will include S5OO for grand champion steer and $ 150 for grand champion heifer. Previously aimed at youths from the six-county central Pennsylva nia area, the show “is really trying to enlarge this year,” stressed Bed ford County Agent Susan Fox. Last year’s event drew 75 competi tors. C. J. Furlong of Alum Bank RD 1 is chairman, with assistance from county 4-H leaders and FFA advisors. Steers will be divided into clas ses according to hip height. Judg ing will be based on the prospec tive outcome of the steers at mark et readiness. A clipping and fitting demonstration will be staged June 24 at 7 p.m. A dance for participants will follow in the 4-H Building on the grounds. Catde will be processed after 8 a.m. on June 25, with judging of females to begin at 12:30 p.m., fol lowed by steer judging, then a fit ting and showmanship contest. Prizes are being funded by donations and a $l5 per head entry fee.
