The Farmers Side Of The Story We the undersigned producers are diverting our milk or have left Farmland permanently, not because we want to put Farmland out of business, but because Farmland refuses to co-operate with R.C.M.A. or to even sit down with Farmland producers as a group to discuss the issues. Farmland must think our memories are pretty short when they say Farmland has never turned away milk. We here in Northeastern Pa. all have friends and neighbors who were dropped by Farmland. They were dropped because they weren’t making enough milk or were not easily accessible to tractor trailers. We ask you to consider the following. According to the U.S. Dept, of Agriculture, in 1980, dairymen were getting 52% of the consumers dollars spent for dairy products. In 1986, they were only getting 44%. With milk at $2.00 a gallon this is a loss of .16 per gallon or $1.85 per hundred. WHO’S POCKETS DID THIS END UP IN! Why did it take Farmland until August, 1987 to share some of this in the form of a .15 premium? Was it because R.C.M.A. announced an over-order price for September? We ask all dairymen to Join with us and make over-order pricing a continuous program as it is in the Midwest. Lets keep R.C.M.A. working for us so all handlers are charged the same and all producers are paid the same. If we stand together R.C.M.A. will work and it will improve the income of all dairymen in the Northeast. If we allow ourselves to be bought off or scared off, then we will have lost our last chance to help ourselves and many of us may find we can no longer afford to dairy. Paid for by Independent producers of N.E. Pa. Helping to build a healthier American. If you would like to talk to us about R.C.M.A. call any of the following.
