getting the new money for PRV
funding looked bleak.
NPPC’s Producer Oversight
Committee, chaired by Don Ging
erich, a pork producer from Par
nell, lowa, spent a great deal of
time in recent weeks button-holing
key numbers of Congress and let
ting them know how important the
PRV funds were to producers. The
NPPC Washington, DC office
staff was of great assistance,
according to Gingerich. “This was
perhaps the worst possible time to
go after new money for a project,
but our persistence paid off. We
proved to lawmakers it was a prog
ram that deserved priority fund
ing,” Gingerich said.
