BASIC SEWING - Have you
always wanted to learn to sew?
This course covers the basics.
Leant how to operate a sewing
machine, choose correct pattern
size, make alterations and make an
easy-to-sew item for your war
drobe. Workshop includes lecture,
demonstration and actual sewing
time in class. Some sewing must
be done at home. Bring your own
machine or use one of ours. Class

CREATIVE VEGETABLE
COOKERY - Tired of the same
old vegetables day in and day out?
Looking for new ways to prepare
those vegetables that are supposed
to be “good for you?” Would you
like to learn how eating vegetables
may reduce your risk of develop
ing cancer? Sign up for the new
course beginning in March called
“Creative Vegetable Cookery.”
Designed as leam-at-home les
sons to be completed over an eight
week period “Creative Vegetable
Cookery” provides; recipes and
menus; tips on vegetable storage
and cooking: and background
information on the role vegetables
play in cancer prevention.
A $5.00 fee is required to regis
ter for this course. This covers
reproduction of the lessons and
mailing costs. Limit: 50.

SEWING GRAINBOARD
WORKSHOP - Have you ever
wished that your ironing board was
wider and things didn’t slip off?
Have you ever wished for a cutting
surface that didn’t allow fabric to
slip and slide? If you have wished
for either of the above, consider
mixing a sewing grainboard. In
this four hour class you will con
struct a padded, griddcd board
which makes straightening, cut
ting, pressing and tailoring faster
and easier. Part of the class will be
a demonstration of its multiple
uses. This versatile board is guar
anteed to become one of your
FAVORITE pieces of sewing and
fabric craft equipment. A supply
list will be sent prior to class. The
cover costs about $15.00 plus the
expense of 'A sheet of plywood or
r iberboard and a wool blanket or

Lancaster Winter Workshops
THE HEART OF CURVED
PIECING - If you like the look of
the log cabin quilt pattern, you’ll
be eager to piece this heart block. It
is composed of bias cut pieces of
fabric, joined to diagonally set
blocks chaining through the center
of the heart The bias piecing
makes this a challenging block.
During this 3-hour class, you
will piece one block, then inset it
into a square piece of fabric. Inter
mediate sewing skills are absolute
ly necessary. Ideas for using this
block in creative ways will be
presented.
Supplies needed for class: sew
ing machine; extension cord; sew
ing and cutting supplies; iron and
mat; V« yard of a solid, 100% cot
ton fabric; 8-10 pieces of coordi
nated cotton calicoes (5”xl0” each
is sufficient); rubber cement; paper
scissors. Class Limit; IS.

Who’s taking care of the money?
