No spreader on the market can match
the versatility of Scavenger
A new look in spreader design.
More than 7 years ago,
Hedlund/Martin introduced the
Scavenger—a manure spreader based
on an entirely new technology.
Gone were unreliable apron chains
and “rooster comb” beaters. Gone were
leaky endgates. Gone were the old
fashioned boxy shape. In their place—
a unique patented square auger and
side-discharge expeller reel. And with
its welded Unibody construction,
Scavenger looked like nothing before.
But even though it looked unusual,
Scavenger worked. Scavenger proved
itself where it counts —in the fields of
farmers all across America.
Scavenger's design end technology Is

Creighton said the Moldavians
were fascinated by the computer
operation which can be handled
with 10 workers.
They also visited the hog farm
of Mr. and Mrs. David Hess, where
1,000 hogs are fed out. Again,
Creighton said the visitors were
amazed that Hess worked full time
for the Espenshades as well as
serving as pastor for Mount Hope
Mennonite Church.
The entire group also had the
opportunity to visit Hershey,

While some of these look-alike units
are perfectly adequate for certain
manure-spreading application, none

50 feet. All in one machine.

Rabies

Farmers can vaccinate their ani

So when you find it’s time to
purchase a new spreader, take a hard
look at your choices. Don’t be misled
by spreaders that claim to do it all.
Compare actual capabilities. We think
you’ll find your choice obvious. You’ll
choose the spreader with unmatched

“It is very important to keep
children away from animals that
are acting strange or wild,” Sam
mons stated. “Be aware that it will
take three years for the disease to
move out of the area.”
If a farmer suspects a wild ani
mal is rabid, he should kill it with a
chest shot and bring the head to
Summeidale Lab, where it will be
tested free of charge.
The law allows farmers to kill
wild animals on their property that
are suspected of having the dis
ease. This law doesn’t extend to
dogs or cats. In the cases where a
dog or cat seems to have rabies,
Sammons advised farmers to call
the dog warden, unless the animal
is of immediate threat.
