SEVEN VALLEYS Gordon
and Dianna Shive were named
York 4-H Baby Beef Club’s 1988
Citation Award recipients, during
the annual awards banquet held
January 30 at the Seven Valleys
Fire Hall.
The Seven Valleys couple are
long-time supporters of the beef
club and county 4-H programs. As
a 4-H’er, Gordon was president
both of the beef club and County
Council, and was a member of 'he
state Livestock Judging Team.
He continued sharing the know
ledge and skills acquired as a 4-H
member by serving as an adult
leader, and working with the lives
tock teams. Both he and Dianna
have been leaders of the Jefferson
Community Club. Dianna has
served on the county 4-H Advisory
Committee and 4-H Fair Board.
The Shive’s frequently host beef
club training events, club meet
ings, and provide classes of cattle
for livestock judging practice at
their Buffalo Valley Angus
operation.
Purebred Angus cattle breeders
and exhibitors, both have held
offices in the Pennsylvania Angus

Gordon and Dianna’s three
daughters, Chris, Cathy and
Robin, have continued the fami
ly’s enthusiasm for the 4-H prog
ram. All three are successful pro
ject and open class Angus exhibi
tors, and take active roles in a
variety of beef, community and
county club events.
Winner of the Roll Call awards,
based on members’ presentation
and management information
given at each club meeting, was
Sue Eisenhour. Others recognized
with awards were Cathy Shive,
second; John Eaton, Jr., third;
Robin Shive, fourth; and Sandy
Eisenhour and Sonja Shearer, tied
for fifth place.
Rookie awards for the Roll Call
went to Wade Myers, first, and
Jennifer Altobelli, second.
Three “graduation” recogni
tions went to senior 4-H members
completing their final year in the
program. Graduating seniors are
Joe Druck, Ray Swartz 11, and John
Eaton, Jr.
