A highlight of the banquet each
year is the recognition of new
“Century Farm Families.” To
qualify as a Century Farm, the
farm must be owned by the same
family for 100 consecutive years to
the date of application, and a fami
ly member must currently live on
the farm. The farm must consist of
at least 10 acres of the original
holding or gross more than $l,OOO
annually from the sale of farm
products.

Secretary Wolff assumed his
present post in February. He holds
a B.S. degree in dairy husbandry
from The Pennsylvania State
University.
Following his graduation in
1953, he returned to his home in
Westmoreland County to own and
operate the 410-acre family farm,
and has spent the past 33 years in
full-time farming and active parti
cipation in many state and local
farm organizations.
His success as a farmer earned
him the Pennsylvania Master Far
mer Award in 1970, designation as
a Kellogg Fellow in 1972, Out
standing County Farm Conserva
tionist Award in 1975, Outstand
ing Grassland Award in 1976, and
Distinguished Service to Agricul
ture Award in 1977.
.He has served as state director of
the Pennsylvania Farmers Associ
ation, a member of the board of
trustees of The Pennsylvania State
University, president of the West
moreland County Farmers Associ
ation, president of the Westmore
land County Cooperative Exten
sion Service, and chairman of the
