UPDATE: Soybeans futures
closed nicely higher this afternoon
on spillover strength from the
recovering soymeal. Further sup
port came from the lighter than
anticipated commercial hedge sell
ing, despite news of active farmer
selling. Weakness early in th'e ses
sion came on heavy cash move
ment and harvest progress.
Rumors resurfaced that USSR
bought soypellets from Argentina.
November gained 2 cents, settling

Live cattle and feeder cattle futures
mixed this afternoon, with losses
in the front months and gains in the
deferreds. Selling in the nearby
months was spurred by the pre
mium which October holds to cash
cattle prices as first notice day
