cake sale while Karen showed her
hogs. Karen notes that their friends
can readily tell them apart, but that
most adults get them confused.
Following high school both
Karen and Kathy plan to attend
college and major in pre-med.
They would both like to become
chiropractors. And not surprising

While identical in their features,
interests, and future ambitions,
both girls are individualistic in
their competitive nature. Stated
Karen, “We love to compete
against each other. We really don’t
care which one wins though. Other
people have a bigger hang-up with
that. Sometimes they’ll pick some
one else in a contest rather than
choose between us. Or, they’ll give
us both the same award. We get
judged as a group alot.”
Yet, Kathy acknowledges that
having a twin has been great for
working on demonstrations where
they can do a team presentation or
where one will critic the other’s
presentation. “We’ll be honest
with each other,” said Karen, “and
we’ll tell each other something that
someone else might hesitate to cri
ticize. Because, you see, we’re
really each other’s best friend.”
