Ag Preserve
Sets Meetings
Lancaster County Agricultural
Preserve Board is sponsoring
informal public meetings on the
designation of agricultural pre
serve in Colerain and East Dru
morc Townships. The meetings
are scheduled for Thursday, Sep
tember, 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Coler
ain Municipal Building on Kirk
wood Pike, Kirkwood, and Tues
day, September 8,7:30 p.m. at the
Hoffman Community Building,
Park Avenue, Quarryville.
The proposed agricultural pre
serves would make land owners
eligible to voluntarily sell a con
servation easement to the Agricul
tural Preserve Board and establish
protective right to farm policies.
Several Colerain land owners have
requested that the ag preserve be
proposed.
Agricultural preserves are
created because state law requires
that the Agricultural Preserve
Board identify priority farm land
areas in which to spend preserva
tion dollars.
The purpose of the public meet
ings will be to inform land owners
and answer questions about the
effects of the Agricultural Preserve
Board and the voluntary conserva
tion easement program. Contact:
Lancaster County Agricultural
Preserve Board, 50 North Duke
Street, P.O. Box 3480, Lancaster,
PA 17603. Alan R. Musselman,
director, or Karen M. Weiss,
