    McCauley’s Dry Beauty Takes Laurels
BY PAT PURCELL
ELIZABETHTOWN “It’s
something we rarely do, but it is no
sin to be dry. It is a normal part of
the lactation cycle,” said Eli
zabethtown Fair Dairy Show
Judge Jim Shaw after naming Tom
McCauley’s dry 4-year-old as the
supreme dairy animal on Thursday
afternoon.
Metcalfs Valiant Beauty ET is
not producing presently, however,
Shaw noted that her dry udder had
the characteristics that were unri
valed by any of her competitors.
However, when Beauty is produc
ing she is high producer. As a
3-year-old she gave 26,774 pounds
of milk with a 3.5 percent fat test at
976 pounds. She is classified as an
Excellent 92.
McCauley is the 16-year-old
son of Dr. Allan McCauley r)f Eli
zabethtown. McCauley took the
championship with Beauty at Eli
zabethtown in 1986, but was not
expecting her to do as well in 1987
