For $12,500
A gallon of milk from the
Supreme Champion Dairy Animal
at the S2nd Annual Loudoun
County (Virginia) 4-H Fair on
August 7 brought a world’s record
price of $12,500. The successful
bidder was Village Shopping Cen
ter, Route 7, Sterling, Virginia.
The annual sale of the “Golden
Gallon of Milk” is sponsored by
the Loudoun 4-H Dairy Club. All
of the proceeds are used for the
maintenance and upkeep*of the
county 4-H fairgrounds, which are
owned by the 4-H’ers.

year old Jersey cow, owned by 11
year old Karen McComb of Pur
cellville. Karen has been a 4-H
member for four years. Jingle is
appraised at 91 points and has
three lactation credits of 1033
days, 45,612 pounds of milk, 2088
pounds of fat, and 1799 pounds of
protein. She was bred by Highland
Farms, Cornish Maine.
