Sometimes it seems we spend half our
lives fighting the system. But there’s one
system that’s
always on your
side—the Vicon
Haying System
With a Vicon
KM Mower/
Conditioner, one
of our high ca
pacity V-Rakes,
and a new Vicon
round baler, you can make hay faster,
better and more economically.
The KM 321, for instance, is the fastest
mower/conditioner in the world. It’s 30
percent faster than conventional mower/
conditioners. A new drive unit lets you
operate non-stop. Take square comers
without drive line vibration or danger of
failure.
even if

leave you worrying about leaf loss.
If you’re making big round bales,

Finaljy, try one of Vicon’s new round

in the world. They give you a tighter,

result—more

show called “SciQ.” According to
Murphy, “Everyone will leant
something. It includes both silly
and educational questions that
focus on agriculture facts.” Parti
cipants can win cheese, ice cream,
T-shirts and geraniums.
Seating space for the game show
is limited so tickets are required.
The tickets are free for the six daily
showtimes, between 10 a.m. and 3
p.m., and can be attained at the
information booths.
With an eye to the future, plan
ners are staging a time-capsule that
will be opened in 2087. It will con
tain samples of items such as ster
ile water and freeze-dry semen for
possible analysis so that future sci
entists can compare our present
resources with their own.
Visitors have a chance to make
history by placing their family por
trait in the capsule. The first 100
contributors each day will be given
a certificate which they can place
in safekeeping for their descen
dents. The certificate is actually an
invitation for the contibutor’s
desce'ndents to attend the capsule’s
opening in the year 2087.
Harrington said the APD plan
ners prefer to stay away from the
camival-like atmosphere where
everyone is selling something. In
fact, there are no over-the-counter
sales except food.
As usual, bus tours of current
field research in action will be
offered. The 4S-minute tours high
light part of the 150 acres used for
Penn State research that was not
shown during previous shows.
Buses depart from Main Street
every 20 minutes, between 10 a.m.
and 3 p.m.
Harrington is proud that almost
100% of the former visitors return
each year. They come by car and
busloads from Pennsylvania and
surrounding states. He said, “It’s a
great way to give farmers a break
and at the same time sneak a lot of
education into a fun day.”
