The Delaware State Fair held in
Harrington was during one of the
hottest weeks this summer has
seen. The week of July 20th saw_
some days in the 100 degree marks *
yet the exhibitor in the dairy shows
were not swayed by the heat and
came out with some outstanding
animals for Judges Jimmie Euslice
from Virginia and Norman Hill
from Maryland to place.
Norman or Buddy Voss as he is
known, took home 6 first place
winnings. His Senior and Interme
diate Heifer calves took both the
Junior and Reserve Junior Champ
ion Honors respectively. The Aged
Cow Aynestead Tilda Sex Chaise
owned jointly by Phil Pierson,
Norman Voss and Marion Andrew
took the Grand Champion Honors
with Norman Voss taking home
the Reserve Champion with his
3-year-old.
In the Color Breeds the Ayrshire
Grand Champion went to Bells
Farm with the Reserve going to
Susan and Charles Hudson. The
Guernsey Champion went to the
University of Delaware as well as
the Reserve Rosette. Their Herds
man just during fair week was hon

“His unselfish Love and care of the
University of Delaware cows as
special Herdsman during the
Annual Delaware State Fair at
Harrington for over a Quarter of a
Century.” So read the plaque. He
was also presented with an assort
ment of past ribbons and rosettes
from the past fair winnings. The
Jersey Grand Champion went to
Billee Jo Collison a first lime exhi

Dairy Champions Named At Del State Fair
comes to compete against one
another in just one category, the
udderclass. The excitement is very
high as the size and color of the
cow makes no difference in this
class. The winner this year went to
the Grand Champion Jersey owned
by Billee Jo Collison with her aged
cow. The revolving Bowl in mem
ory of Craig Ellison has seen yet
another Jersey Breeder listed as
this 100 was the breed he loved and
raised.
