Employees Purchase
Badger Northland
KUAKAUNA, Wis.— Badger
Northland Inc., the Kaukauna,
Wisconsin-based farm machinery
manufacturer, has been purchased
from British Tire and Rubber
(BTR Inc.), a British firm, by Bad
ger employees and local investors.
Kaukauna Investment Inc., a
group of 12 local investors and
Badger officers, purchased the
42-year-old company on June 30,
according to Murray A. Thomdy
craft. President of Badger North
land. As part of the buyout. Badger
employees will purchase stock in
the company later this summer
under an Employee Stock Owner
ship Plan (ESOP).
“We feel that this plan will pro
vide our loyal employees with both
a reward for past service as well as
an incentive to continue their high
standards of performance,” said
Thomdycraft. “Quite simply, we
want to share Badger’s success
with all those who have made it
possible.”
American ownership is another
important point of the buyout,
according to Kenneth Myers, Bad
ger Northland’s Executive Vice
President and Treasurer. “Prior to
BTR, Badger was owned by yet
another British firm, Gascoigne
Inc., noted Myers. “We’re very
pleased to once again be American
owned and directed, thereby plac
ing profits in American hands
rather than turning them over to a
foreign corporation.
The purchase of the company
was financed largely by the First
Wisconsin National Bank of She
boygan, Wisconsin, and to a lesser
extent by BTR and the Wisconsin
Department of Development,
through a loan from the City of
Kaukauna.
Badger Northland manufactures
and markets a complete line of for
age, feed and manure handling
equipment through more than 400
dealers in the United States and
Canada, as well as overseas export.
Future plans include expansion of
its present product line and pro
duction increases in non
agricullural markets.
