YORK C.E. Hubbard 111,
Kim McCleary and Kelly Morris
were the big prizewinners Wed
nesday as the annual 4-H Roundup
kicked off York County’s summer
dairy show lineup. Nearly 70 head
turned out for the dairy project
roundup, held at the York Fair
grounds as the opening event of the
annual York 4-H Fair.
Hubbard’s junior, senior, and
grand champion wins in the Hols
tein division added to a string of
4-H and open class awards earned
during his 4-H career by the New
Cumberland exhibitor.
His aged cow class entry,
Kowraygan Creek Linnan Jean,
easily lopped all contenders for
senior and grand honors, and
earned praise for her correctness
from type judge Steve Shaw of
Oley. Linnan Jean is sired by
Creek-Bluff Elevation Lester.
A junior yearling daughter of
HilUopper Elevation Warden
claimed the junior champion prize
for Hubbard. C. Lloyds Warden
Rosalm bested other contenders
for the lop heifer prize with her
stylishness, dairyness and size.

Field Day Set For July 31
HALIFAX The Dauphin
County Ag Management Day will
be held Friday, July 31 from 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. at the Paul Clugston
Farm, one mile north of Halifax
along Route 225.
Featured speakers for the day
are Dr. Les Lanyon, Penn State
agronomist, who will speak on
“Implementing Nutrient Manage
ment Plans;” John Jemison, Penn
State agronomist, who will discuss
“Tissue Testing To Determine Nit
rogen Availability to Com;”and
Don Shiflet, Farm Credit Banks of
Baltimore, who will discuss
“There is a Future in Agriculture.”
Speakers are scheduled from 11
a.m. to noon.

yearling.
Reserve junior and grand, and
the best bred and owned award in
the Guernsey division, went to
Paul Rauhauser, Dover, with a
junior calf, Lilac Springs Fayette
Allie.
Three 4-H’ers were named age-
category champions in the fitting
showmanship competition, judged
by Ann Davis, Union Bridge,
Maryland.
Brad Walker topped the 8 to
11 -year age group, with Dixie Doll
in second, and Greg Walker, third.
In the 12 to 14-year intermediate
division, Jenelle Boyer was first,
Kelly Morris, second, and Annie
Rauhauser, third. C. E. Hubbard 111
earned 15 to 19-senior division
honors, over Bridgette Boyer in
second, and Angie Lang, third.
