Fnnldin Comfy 4-H'ets Hold Fashion Romo

lin County 4-H clothing and textile
project members displayed the
products of their sewing skills at
the 1987 “Fashion Beat: Careers
for Youth” Fashion Revue held
July 10 at the County Extension
Office.
The 4-H ’ers were j udged on gar
ment construction, fit, degree of
construction, difficulty, appropri
ateness of garment for the 4-H’er
and modeling ability.
Winners in the senior division
(14-19 years old) were Lorraine
Miller, Greencastle; Lori Johnson,
Orrstown; Manna Keefer, Orrs
town; Christine McDonald, Ship
pensburg; Denise Garris, Ship
pensburg; Belinda Angle, Mer
cersburg; Sandee Brechbill,
Chambersburg; and Jolene Bene
dict, Chambersburg. Alternate was
Michelle North, Chambersburg.
Junior winners (8-13) were
Deanne Stahl, Greencastle; Sherry
Oberholzer, State Line; Lorene
Wenger, Greencastle; Bonita
Angle, Mercersburg; and Holly
Long, Greencastle. Alternates
were Carolyn Miller, Greencastle,
and Mary Ellen Butts,
Mercersburg.
These winners will represent
Franklin County at the Capital
Region 4-H Fashion Revue at
Cumberland Valley High School
July 21. Those who qualify there
will go on to the State Fashion
Revue at Penn State in August.
Trophies and ribbons were pre
sented by Nancy Hogg, extension
home economist.
Judges for the event were Ms
Pamela K. Mowery and Mrs
Susan Keefer.
The Simplicity Pattern Com
pany and the White/Elna Sewing
Machine Company provided the
awards.

Virginia Apple Butter Contest Set For Sept, 19
WINCHESTER, Va. The
Virginia Championship Apple
Butter Making Contest will be held
Saturday, Sept. 19th in the
Winchester Recreation Park. The
annual event is held in conjunction
with the Rotary Club’s Apple
Harvest Festival and affords parti
cipants an opportunity to win over
$7OO in prize money.'
