S of Middlesex Thursday, July 30,1987 Manheim FFA’er Earns DeKalb Award MANHEIM Leon Heisey, Manheim, recently received the 1987 DeKalb Agricultural Accom plishment Award. The award, sponsored nationwide by DeKalb- Pfizer Genetics, is presented to the senior agriculture student attaining the highest degree of proficiency in scholarship, leadership and a supervised agricultural program. Heisey attended Manheim Cen tral High School where he was president of the local FFA chapter and sentinel of the Lancaster County FFA Chapter. His agricul tural program consisted of work experience programs dealing with farm mechanics. The 1987 Manheim Central gra duate received the National FFA scholarship, Lancaster Bankers’ scholarship, and the Farm and Home Center scholarship. At this year’s state FFA week, held at Penn State, he won the ag mechan ics contest and will be attending the National FFA Convention in Kansas City to compete in this category. This fall Heisey plans to attend Penn State university to major in ag engineering. As this year’s winner, Heisey receives a pin and certificate and his name will be inscribed on .a special plaque displayed in the high school’s vocational agricul ture department.
