    LANCASTER The Fourth
Annual Pensupreme Ice Cream
Festival, set for Sunday, July 19,
has become known as a sweet
recipe for success.
The festival, which is held, in
Lancaster Square from 1 to 5 p.m.,
is sponsored by Penn Dairies, with
all proceeds benefitting the Lan
caster County Library System. The
festival’s recipe for fun includes
ali-you-can-eat ice cream and a
variety of exciting entertainment
for all family members. The
money raised at the festival pro
vides funds for children’s and
young adults’ books for the
county-wide library system.
Visitors to the festival can enjoy
ice cream sundaes, cones, root beer

Ice Cream Festival To Benefit Library System

Children will delight in a charm
ing puppet show by Steve Abrams,
along with Oscar the Grouch, Coo
kie Monster, dairy wagon rides,
balloon animals by Eric and Gail
Vanaman, face painting, Pensu
preme’s Mr. Fussy, clowns, a
balloon-launching contest, an ice
cream fishing game, book
stacking game, ice cream trivia,
bubble fun, and the Hands-On
House.
Dance fans will enjoy perfor-
mances by the Society for Creative
Anachronisms, Movement Labor
atories, Lancaster Dance Com
pany 11, Figurifics and Street Feet.
Music-lovers have a wide selec
tion, including Roxanne Wilson’s
contemporary singing, a perfor
mance by the Lancaster Opera
Workshop, Jack McCoy and his
soft-rock music, Don Trestle’s Big
Band Sounds, G.G. Grickis’■organ"
music, Donna Groffs contempor
ary singing, and the rock sounds of
the popular group, TYZ.
There is also a potpourri ofother
entertainers that just about every
one can enjoy on a hot summer
day. The Society for Creative Ana
chronisms will present unique
medieval fighting, all in fun, of

Baton Twirlers will strut their
stuff. Mike Snyder and his wife
Donna will perform mind
boggling magic. Pat Picciano will
demonstrate his amazing juggling
dexterity. And the Pensupreme
Flavorscope “gypsy” will read
fortunes based on favorite ice
cream flavors. In addition, the
library will feature its Bookmobile
along with a colorful array of
library banners created by each
county library branch.
A number of volunteer enter
tainers will be repeating their
acclaimed performances from last
year. Donna Groff, Eric Vanaman,
and TYZ are among those that
have dedicated themselves to the
library benefit once again. In addi
tion, a number of guest emcees
from local radio stations have
again volunteered to help out this
year.
Free parking will be available in
the Prince Street Garage. Dona
tions for adults is $2.50 per person;
children sto 11, $1; and children 4
and under served free when
accompanied by a ticket
purchasing adult
The 1986 festival raised some
$12,000 for the Lancaster County
Library System. “We’re hoping to
raise even more this year,” notes
Robert Case. “And so we invite
everyone to join in the fun and help
support this important library
benefit”
