820-Lancaster Fannins, Saturday, June 27,1987 Cambria County Farm Woman Bed Officers EBENSBURG Coolbaugh, Ragers Comer, was elected treasurer of Cambria County Society of Farm Women at their annual convention Wednes day, June 17 in Edensburg. She succeeded Hannah Bender of Adams Township. Also elected was Emily Homer, secretary, and Bonnie Sikora, assistant secretary. Mrs. Homer succeeds Lois Hughes of Portage. Term of office is two years. Mary Margaret Davis continues as president for another year along with Eileen Hutzell of South Fork as first vice president and Katie Respet, Salix, as second vice president. State Farm Women President Naomi Bupp, Glen Rock, York County, administered the oath of office. The Society of Farm Women of Cambria County convention convened at 10 a.m. with 69 members and guests attending. Joanne Zane, past president, gave Stoltzfus Earns DeKalb Award ELVERSON During the recent Berks County Future Farmers of America banquet Kevin Stoltzfus received the Berks County FFA Star Farmer of the Year award and Ann Kline won the Berks FFA Star Agribusiness Award. Both Kevin and Ann are seniors at Twin Valley High School. Kevin Stoltzfus plans to attend college after working for a year. His most memorable experiences in FFA include showing his Guernsey cow at various shows and serving as county FFA president for the 1986-87 school year. Kevin served as chapter president at Twin Valley, having previously served as both chapter and county vice president. Adams Township conducted a memorial service in memory of two deceased members. Mary Mary Rossman, Cambria Township, presented a talk on conservation: “Manage your waste and save our water.” Music was provided by the Rev. David Youngdahl, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church. Tim Flanigan, Bedford County game protector, was the featured speaker for the afternoon session. He showed slides and presented a fast-paced commentary on Penn sylvania wildflowers and their uses. The Society of Farm Women of Cambria County presented a silver bell to Naomi Bupp in recognition of services to the county. Mrs. Bupp said, “I now have 151 bells in my private collection.” FFA contests, placing in the state creed speaking contest as a freshman, and the state salesmanship contest as a junior. He has also been involved in public speaking, parliamentary procedure, agronomy, dairy foods, dairy cattle and livestock judging contests. Ann Kline plans to major in ornamental horticulture at Delaware Valley College. She fondly remembers helping to organize the Food for America programs and scheduling tours of dairy farms for school children and petting zoos for pre-school children.
