Wearing a burgundy floor length gown, she was crowned Saturday evening, June 20, at the conclusion ofthe June Dairy Month Parade. Ac cording to Mary Lambert, a parade organizer, approximately 1,500 people attended the events The sole contestant, a petite brunette, Sally is the (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McClintock of Muncy Valley. The 19-year-old is a graduate of Sullivan County High School and works on her parents’ dairy farm. The McClintocks milk 23 cows and farm 150 acres. When asked during an onstage interview what she did around the farm, the princess said she milks and works in the field. Horses are Md. 4-H Foundation Raises *lO,OOO WHti Tournaments COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Fun loving club-swingers and racquet pounders helped the Maryland 4-H Club Foundation raise more than $lO,OOO for the first time in the six year history of the organization’s annual golf and tennis tournament. The money goes to help support statewide 4-H youth activities of The University of Maryland’s Cooperative Extension Service. This year’s tournament was held June 1 at the Eaglehead Golf and Country Club near New London, in the Lake Linganore section of eastern Frederick County. Some 100 golfers and 30 tennis players participated down slightly from the previous year. About 150 persons were on hand for an evening buffet dinner, awards ceremony, and “Chinese auction,” according to Amy F. Leber, coordinator for the sponsoring 4-H Club Foundation. Marlin K. She also at tended a thoroughbred racing school in Indiana to learn how to race thoroughbreds. Sally has participated in 4-H riding and sewing clubs. In her farewell speech 1986 Sullivan County Dairy Princess Lynn Hembury remarked that she thought her task of educating people about milk would be easy. After detailing a few of her ex periences with the general public, she summed things up by remarking, “It was just not as easy as I thought.” However, Lynn said she had a great time and thanked everyone, including alternate Cheri Brown, for their support. Following the parade, a “super honor. Hoff has been a hard working member of the Maryland 4-H Club Foundation golf and tennis tournament committee almost since its inception. Ronald D. Hermes of Lake Linganore received an honorary 4- H membership plaque from The University of Maryland’s Cooperative Extension Service, since he had never been a 4-H member as a youth. Hermes is owner-manager of the Eaglehead Golf and Country Club, which hosted this year’s tournament. Two Howard County golfers won prizes in the men’s competition for drives that ended close to the pin. Henry C. (Bill) Krantz, Jr., of Poplar Springs won on hole No. 3, and Roy Ford of West Friendship was the winner on hole No. 12. H. Max Mosner of Hampstead won similar honors for hole No. 15. Mosner also won the men’s prize for the longest drive on hole No. 18. He was co-chairman again this year of the 4-H Foundation golf and fSjllr. P? For the second consecutive year, Mrs. Marlin K. (Kathy) Hoff of New Windsor won a prize in the women’s division for a drive that ended close to the pin. Mrs. Hoff also won honors among women contestants for the longest drive. She accomplished her feats on holes 12 and 18, respectively. Mrs. Edward F. (Brantley) Stanfield, Jr., of Randallstown was the women’s winner for being close the pin on hole No. 3, and Cynthia L. Armbrutis of Frederick won on hole No. 5. Mrs. Stanfield and Ms. Arm brutis placed first and second, respectively, in the overall women’s standings on the basis of net scores. Mrs. Gene W. (Charlotte) Mullinix of Lisbon finished third. Mrs. Howard G. (Gertrude) Crist, Jr., of Glenelg won top Daily Princess Crown Sally McClintock will represent Sullivan County dairymen as the 1987-88 Dairy Princess. honors in the overall women’s standings on the basis of gross score. Last year, she was the net score winner in this tournament. Kathy Hoff of New Windsor was second in the women’s gross standings, and Rosalie Moulden of Dayton placed third. Two Carroll County residents won top honors in the overall men’s golf tournament standings. H. Max Mosner of Hampstead won on the basis of gross score and David L. Brauning of Finksburg was the net score winner. Mosner is vice president and general manager for the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society at Timonium, and Brauning is a member of the state fair board of directors.
