Slaughter steers and heifers
closed the week 2.00-3.00 lower
when compared to the previous
week. Lower dressed beef prices in
both the carcass and boxed beef
channels were the dominant
factors for the decline. Buyer
demand still continues good for
those with • expected large per
centage of choice carcasses on the
rail. Slaughter cows closed 1.00
higher, slaughter bulls 2.00 higher.
Estimated S day receipts of
cattle this week 4,600 compared to
actuals last week of 4,372 and 5,303
last year. Slaughter steers ac
counted for 51 percent of receipts
this week. Slaughter heifers 35
percent, slaughter cows 12 per
cent, feeder cattle 1 percent.
