also made of silver, is located on
the toeplate and serves as a hidden
release for the patchboz.
The gold used in the rifle came
from his wedding bands, while
ivory was from old piano keys.

Dave says John is very ap
preciative of the flintlock he
bought from him and always
displays it prominently in his
home. John also claims it is a good
shooting gun, winning in com
petition evry year.
Dave enjoys the challenge of
leaning a new skill. Currently, he is
renovating and old hit and miss
engine. “I try to challenge myself
to do more than I can do,“ he says.
He sees a new chllenge ap
proaching onthe horizonin the form
of another flintlock. And, maybe
this time the customer who will
want it will have - a new car?
