Series 4-H Daily Club Honors Members
SHARTLESVILLE - Berks
County recognized its outstanding
4-H Dairy club members at the
annual 4-H dairy banquet held at
the Shartlesville Grange Hall last
Friday evening. Over 100 parents,
leaders, and 4-H’ers turned out to
see who took home the trophies for
the winning project books, blue
forms, and officers books for the
past year.
First places for their project
books in each age group were:
ages 8 to 9, Jed Vail, Western
Berks; ages 10 to 11, Jason
Balthaser, Western Berks; ages 12
to 13, Amy Kohler, Eastern Berks;
ages 14 to 15, Heidi Schlegel,
Eastern Berks; ages 16 to 17, Doris
Stump, Western Berks; ages 18 to
19, Susan Troutman, Stouchsburg
Club.
The blueform contest featured
trophy winners: ages 8 to 9,
Brandy Moser, Virginville; ages 10
to 11, Amy Richards, Eastern
Berks; ages 12 to 13, Lisa Krick,
Virginville; ages 14 to IS, Tammy
Balthaser, Western Berks; ages 16
to 17, Lynn Krick, Virginville.
Officer book awards went to
Susan Troutman for her
secretary’s book; Becky Snyder
for her treasurer’s book; and Scott
Youse for the club scrapbook.
Also honored were the winning
members of the Berks County
Dairy Judging team. The team
placed first in Pennsylvania and
third at the North American In
ternational Livestock Exposition
in Kentucky. Team members
included: Michelle Christman,
Hamburg, who also placed first at
NAILE in reasons; Doris Stump,
Bemville, who was also a member
of the Pennsylvania team that
traveled to Madison, Wis., Gary
Blueform winners were Brandy Moser, Amy Richards, Lisa Krick, Tammy Balthaser
Officers book awards went to Susan Troutman, Becky
Snyder and Scott Youse.

Hollenbach, Bemville. A special
thank you was issued to the judges
of the team - Christine Williams,
Dean Daubert, Steve Shaw, Jerry
Krone, Dennis Hoshall and Dave
Herbert.
The outstanding winners in the
county Veal Calf Club were
recognized for their efforts and
projects in the 2->em-oid club. The
grand champion of this year’s
show was Jolene Herbert, Eastern
Berks. Reserve champion went to
Scott Youse, Eastern Berks, who
recorded the highest weight gain of
3.18 pounds per day. The junior
project book award went to Denis
Hoch, Eastern Berks, and the
senior project book award went to
Heather Schlegel, Eastern Berks.
