sale. The Massachusetts Jersey
Cattle Club managed the sale. Sale
chairman John Miller noted the
average was slightly higher than
last year. He added that a stan
ding-room-only crowd witnessed
the sale. Animals were sold to
Canada, Idaho, Illinois, and
throughout the Northeast.
The MINNESOTA CON
VENTION CLASSIC averaged
$1,623 on 38 whole lots.
A VG-86 3-year-old, sired by
Willow Farm Rockman Ivanhoe,
topped the sale with a bid of $3,350.
Just-fresh and producing 94
pounds of milk a day, she com
pleted a top record of 22,338 milk
and 861 fat in 346 days.

sale and the Snyder-Hager Sales
managed the sale. Mike Snyder
noted the average increased over
$2OO from last year’s sale.
The BADGER INVITATIONAL
SALE held in Wisconsin averaged
$2,130 on 54 Holsteins and $9OO on
eight Jerseys.
A 2-year-old cow by Valiant
topped the sale by selling for
$9,400. Classified VG-85, she will
freshen in June to Coldsprings
Levi. Her first record, in progress,
stands at 14,544 milk and 603 fat in
241 days. She owns a Cow Index of

sale. Dave Dixon, a professor at
the University of Wisconsin, noted
the crowd had a feeling of op
timism about the dairy industry.
The sale crew consisted of
volunteer alumni from the
University of Wisconsin. Dan
Schnell, a senior dairy science
major, managed the sale. Tom
Morris served as auctioneer. Jim
Hoskens and Marlowe Nelson read
pedigrees. The University of
Wisconsin Dairy Science Club
sponsored the sale.

Fire Hall.
Richard Norton, general
manager of the Middle Atlantic
Milk Marketing Area, will be the
guest speaker. Norton will explain
his agency’s role in promoting
milk and dairy products.
A report on cooperative business
will be given by Andrew D.
Stoltzfus, District 8 director.
Stoltzfus will also present a 25-year
membership award to Floyd S.
Miller, Spring City.
