Members of Lancaster Society 1
met Feb. 7 at the home of Mrs. Neil
Clark, Litltz. Rachel Bollinger
served as co-hostess.
President Anne Landis con
ducted the meeting. For devotions,
Mrs. Barbara Moore read a
passage of scripture from
Thessalonians and concluded with
prayer.
Twenty-eight members were
present and answered roll call by
telling what they left undone to
attend the meeting.
Mrs. Noah Fuhrman and Mrs.
Neil Clark, delegates to the state
convention, reported on highlights
of the meetings.
President Anne Landis reported
that the Spring Rally will be held
May 20 at Elizabethtown College
with Anne Keiser, editor of Farm
Women News, as featured
speaker.

Members of Lancaster Society 7
were welcomed to the home of
Mille Young, the group’s newest
member, on Feb. 14.
President Dorothy Wenger
called the meeting to order by
singing a valentine favorite “Let
Me Call You Sweetheart.” Betty
Brubaker conducted devotions.
Lena Fisher, a paramedic with
the Community Hospital of Lan
caster, talked to the group about
providing all essential information
when telephoning for help. She
emphasized that the caller should
give her name, street name, house
number, township, phone number

Lancaster Society 22 met
recently at the home of Nancy
Witmer, with Ruth Kendig acting
as co-hostess.
Diane Berlin, of the Lancaster
County Coalition of the Chemical
People, spoke about the illegal use
of drugs and alcohol among school
children, and distributed literature
about the facts of this misuse.
Lancaster Society 25
Nineteen members and three
guests of Lancaster Society 25 met
Feb. 14 at the home of Mrs. Melvin
Groff, Lancaster. Helen Thompson
led devotions.
A “What is It?” sale was held.
Items for sale are wrapped and
buyers are surprised by their
purchases.

Thirteen members of Berks the home of Mrs. Martha Levan,
Group 1 met at the Oley Legion R 2 Oley, at 8 p.m. March 11. The

Members of Berks Group 5 met

for one of the four suggested
projects: MAD, Water Street
Rescue Mission, Abused Women,
and Make a Wish.
Members of Society 1 will help
with the June Fair at Conestoga
View on June 13.
Mary Clark, reporting for the
Ways and Means Committee,
proposed a number of day trips for
this year. Final selection and
further information will be
available later.
Speaker for the meeting was
society member Faye Carman,
who spoke about her recent trip to
the Virgin Islands.
The next meeting will be held
March 7 in the home of Mrs. Paul
Kurtz, Lititz.

Berks Group 1
plans for a ham on roll sale to be
held March 21.
Because the invited speaker was
ill, the program on stress was
cancelled. The hostess served
refreshments.
Members were reminded to
bring something green in a brown
paper bag to be auctioned at the
March 10 meeting, which will be
held at the home of Mrs. Kathryn
Neff, Womelsdorf.
Berks Group 9
Members of Berks Group 9 met
Wednesday, Feb. 4 in. the home of
Ruth Hafer, Weavertown. Nine
members were present to “Chat
j and Get Fat” with each member
providing a favorite dessert for the
group to sample.
Next month’s meeting night will
be changed to Tuesday, March 10,
when the group will hold a white
elephant sale.
Lebanon Group 20
Members of Lebanon Group 20
met recently at the
Fredericksburg Fireball for a
sweetheart banquet. Sixteen
members and 12 guests attended.
The banquet opened with a
prayer offered by Carol Hershey.
Beatrice Mull, Pattie Maulfair,
Mae Stamm and Carol Hershey
won centerpieces.
Members played games and held
a brief business meeting.
The group received a certificate
of achievement for having a safety
program. Members decided to
donate $5O to Cedar Haven for bed
pads.
A flea market will be held at the
4-H Fairgrounds in April and a fun
night is scheduled for March 19 at
the Elco School. Proceeds will go
to Lebanon County Farm Women.
Members were reminded of the
Spring Rally, scheduled for May 20
at Elizabethtown College.
Chester Society 3
Members of Chester Society 3
met recently in the home of Jessie
Groff. Co-hostess Florence Hess
read Psalms 19.
For roll call, conducted by
secretary Thelma Blevins,
members brought valentines for
shut ins. Ruth Whiteside read the
treasurer’s report. Florence Hess
was nominated vice president.
A hoagie sale is planned for April
26.
The meeting closed with cherry
pie and ice cream.
Hie March meeting will be held
at the home of Marjorie Helman.

Sets Fundraising
Record
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - With the
theme “Help America’s Best Be
Better,” the National FFA
Foundation set a new record for
contributions with a total of more
than $2.5 million.
The FFA Foundation Sponsoring
Board chairman, Bill Munsell, led
the 1986 fund-raising drive with
that theme. Nearly 1,000
businesses and individuals con
tributed and showed their support
of American youth and
agriculture.
“We can be proud of the many
sponsors who care enough to
support the future of America’s
agriculture,” Munsell said. “FFA
members are truly the best of
American youth. The future
belongs to them, and all of us can
feel pride in anything we do to help
them toward that future.”
