Here is a brief look at the results of these sales BROWN SWISS The SIOUX EMPIRE SALE held in South Dakota averaged $1,053.55 on 38 head. Topping the sale with a bid of $2,000 was a 5-year-old cow. The PREMIERE ET SALE held in California averaged $5,538 on 13 lots. A first choice female ET by Chief Mark topped the sale with a bid of $ll,OOO. Her dam, VG-87, owns a top 365 day record of 28,020 pounds of milk and 1,242 pounds of fat. Sired by Bell, her-cow index stands at plus 1,688 milk, plus 76 fat, plus 55 protein and plus $225 with a CTPI of plus 841. The granddam classified EX-90, EX-MS and produced a high 365 day record of 33,060 pounds of milk and 1,385 pounds of fat. The next dam, VG-86, has lifetime credits of 108,330 milk and 4,894 fat with a top record of 28,730 milk and 1,304 fat for a 4.5 test. Sired by Tri-Town Steady Spipper, the second high lot sold for $9,500. This embryo is the second choice female from the same maternal pedigree as the top seller. A bid of $20,000 for a 3-year-old Valiant daughter topped the sale. Classified VG-87, VG-MS, she produced a top record of 30,880 pounds of milk and 1,025 pounds of fat in 344 days. On the day of the sale she produced 111 pounds of milk with a 4.1 test. She owns a cow index of plus 1,697 milk, plus 61 fat and plus $2Ol with a CTPI of plus 807. Her dam has lifetime credits of 163,963 milk and 5,601 fat with a top record of 37,110 milk and 1,322 fat in 365 days. The granddam produced a Reproductive Clinic Set HONESDALE - A dairy cattle reproductive clinic will be held Thursday, Feb. 12 and Wednesday, Feb. 18,10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Currently the sessions are scheduled for the Extension Meeting Room, Cour thouse, Honesdale, but depending on enrollment, may be moved to another location. Topics presented at the clinic will include reproductive ef ficiency, anatomy and physiology, lifetime record of 121,875 pounds of milk and 3,762 pounds of fat. A Red and White cow sold for the second highest price of $35,000. Classified VG-85, the 2 year old owns a cow index of plus 870 milk, plus 33 fat and plus $lO6. Sired by Enhancer, she produced a 305 day record of 20,521 pounds of milk and 715 pounds of fat. She sold with a package of five guaranteed pregnancies to Im prover and Kid Red, AI contracts over $25,000 and embryo interest. Her dam, VG-86, VG-MS, produced a top record of 24,360 pounds of milk and 731 pounds of fat in 344 days. The fourth dam, EX-913E, produced a top record of 30,880 milk and 1,061 fat in 342 days. The California Holstein Association managed the sale. reproductive health, nutrition and reproduction, AI techniques, and herd reproductive analysis. Speakers will include Dr. Michael O’Connor and Dr. Larry Hut chinson, Penn State Extension specialists, Dr. John Burlein, Honesdale, Sire Power personnel, and several local dairymen.
